WASHINGTON, D.C., March 4, 2005 – Intergraph Corporation (NASDAQ: INGR), a leading global provider of Spatial Information Management (SIM), was recognized this morning for their corporate partnership with the Civil Air Patrol (CAP) at the CAP Winter National Board Meetings held at Washington’s Crystal Gateway Marriott. In addition to a cash donation, Intergraph is contributing, through a separate initiative, an aircraft and ground team tracking prototype that will be field tested with CAP early this spring.
Financial support from Intergraph will be used to fund CAP cadet programs in 2005, namely the 2005 CAP National Cadet Competition in Washington, D.C., the Civil Air Patrol’s most prestigious annual event. The aircraft and ground team tracking prototype, based on Intergraph’s IntelliWhere® technology, will enable CAP to track the location and activity of mobile resources, assign work based on which resource is nearest and available and deliver the required information to ground crews. This prototype not only has the potential to save the CAP precious time and manpower, but improve processes and volunteer utilization as well.
"Intergraph is proud to support the Civil Air Patrol and their mission to keep America’s skies safe," said Tom Young, vice president at Intergraph Corporation. "Through our IntelliWhere solutions, we hope to streamline the Civil Air Patrol’s mobile resource management processes, allowing them to make better and faster operational decisions."
The Civil Air Patrol, known as the "eyes of the home skies," is an official nonprofit auxiliary of the U.S. Air Force. Performing missions for America for more than 60 years, CAP currently has more than 1,700 units across the nation. In addition to performing vital Air Force search and rescue missions on request, they conduct air show, low-level, and crash site surveys, direct traffic for large events, function as a backup communication source for base disaster recovery plans, and serve as community ambassadors. The Civil Air Patrol Cadet Program introduces young people, ages 12 to 21, to aviation and aerospace technology, building strong citizens through leadership training, technical education, scholarships and career education.
