G/Electric, based on the electric industry’s best practices, will seamlessly link Cobb EMC’s corporate information systems, Intergraph-based InService outage and mobile workforce management systems and the Worksuite Storms work management system.
Cobb EMC’s upgrade to G/Electric from its existing FRAMME-based AM/FM/GIS application, in use at Cobb EMC for the past 14 years, will provide users with access to accurate, up-to-date information from a single, geospatially enabled data warehouse based on Oracle. This open architecture will enable Cobb EMC’s workforce to easily leverage and share data, further streamlining day-to-day activities and processes for provisioning and maintaining its service delivery network. In particular, Cobb likes the “undock-and-go” features of G/Electric’s Designer module for designing in the field, which the organization sees as a functionality it could potentially benefit from. In addition, electric design calculators will aid in more efficient designs and shorter design time. With the GRM, Cobb EMC expects to eliminate data redundancy and reduce operating and administrative costs.
