Intergraph’s SmartPlant Foundation Surpasses 100 Client Milestone

Movement to Integrated Engineering Enterprise Fuels Rapid Product Adoption

HUNTSVILLE, Ala., January 24, 2006 – Intergraph Corporation today announced that SmartPlant® Foundation, the company’s data and document management system and integration hub, has been selected by 100 clients worldwide. Appropriately named, SmartPlant Foundation serves as the foundation for Intergraph’s highly successful SmartPlant Enterprise, providing critical integration capabilities for asset creation, maintenance and operations-related work processes.

SmartPlant Foundation is an open, independent data management and integration system that addresses the engineering information requirements of a facility throughout the entire plant life cycle.

“We selected SmartPlant Foundation for its ability to tie together the various SmartPlant applications. We believe that using SmartPlant Foundation will increase our productivity and improve communication among our project team. We also believe that SmartPlant Foundation will allow us to link data in the SmartPlant design applications with many of our other enterprise systems,” said Greg Gould, chief technology officer of Burns & McDonnell, the 100th SmartPlant Foundation customer.

“SmartPlant Foundation is at the core our vision for the integrated engineering enterprise that will bridge engineering and operations. SmartPlant Foundation sales are split almost equally between engineering firms and owner/operators,” said Gerhard Sallinger, president of Intergraph’s Process, Power & Marine division. “Our 100th client is not only a milestone for Intergraph, but for the industry, as the rapid adoption of SmartPlant Foundation by many of the world’s foremost engineering, owner/operators and procurement and construction companies has led to a new industry standard and a recognition that the integrated engineering enterprise is the future of our industry. Many companies are realizing that past practice of automating individual tasks is nearing the limits of performance improvement and that the next step-change in performance improvement can only be achieved through holistic integration of tools, people and processes.”

SmartPlant Enterprise, supported by SmartPlant Foundation, provides advanced design, engineering and project execution functionality, usability and work process improvement into business benefit to cut schedules, boost productivity and increase engineering quality. An Intergraph global industry survey of leading engineering contractors established that the product supported integration of SmartPlant Enterprise can help to immediately reduce CAPEX by up to 1-2%.

The benefits of the SmartPlant Enterprise products have changed plant design and engineering with breakthroughs in usability, rules-based design, global worksharing, drawing automation, real-time clash detection and operating plant support.
