Intergraph SmartPlant Enterprise Goes Live at Air Products

HUNTSVILLE, Ala., Jan. 24, 2006 – Intergraph Corporation today announced the successful cutover to live operations of its SmartPlant ® Enterprise implementation at Air Products’ main engineering centers in Allentown, Pennsylvania, and Hersham, UK. The new system was implemented on schedule and is integrated with Intergraph’s engineering tools as well as Air Products’ document management and enterprise resource planning systems.

The implementation included Intergraph’s integrated engineering tools operating in concert with Air Product’s SAP enterprise resource planning system. These tools include SmartPlant Instrumentation powered by Intools ® for instrumentation engineering; SmartPlant P&ID for piping and instrumentation diagram authoring and engineering; PDS ® for 3D detail design; MARIAN for procurement and materials management; third-party Aspen Technology Zyqad process-modeling environment; Air Products legacy document management system and SAP, which precipitated a broad reaching legacy tool replacement effort. Air Products had numerous design, procurement and material tracking tools, which were either consolidated or retired.

“Our goal was to retool engineering work processes and integrate a new set of commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) software to assist us in improving our business productivity for a global competitive advantage,” said Jere Schneck, director of global engineering, Air Products.

“Air Products has implemented SmartPlant Enterprise exactly as it was envisioned,” said Patrick Holcomb, senior vice president, Intergraph Process, Power & Marine. “Intergraph’s integration technology coupled with our leading design tools creates new enterprise architecture capabilities that do not exist elsewhere. We have made a substantial investment in SmartPlant Enterprise to provide our clients with the most advanced technology for cross-discipline, global productivity improvements that give them a global competitive advantage.”
