Emergency Services Telecommunications Authority of Victoria, Australia Renews Contract for Intergraph® Public Safety Technologies

 

Proven computer-aided dispatch software facilitates effective and efficient response for Australia’s most densely populated state

HUNTSVILLE, Ala., Mar. 18, 2009 –The Emergency Services Telecommunications Authority (ESTA) of Victoria, Australia, one the world’s largest multi-agency emergency services zones handling more than 1.8 million emergency calls a year, has renewed its computer aided dispatch (CAD) contract with Intergraph®.

An Intergraph customer since 2002, ESTA handles calltaking, emergency dispatch and related information transfer services for emergency services for the 4.5 million residents of Victoria, Australia. ESTA is responsible for dispatching calls for the following agencies: Country Fire Authority (CFA); Metropolitan Ambulance VictoriaService (AV); Metropolitan Fire Brigade (MFB); Victoria Police (VicPol); and, Victoria State Emergency Service (VICSES).  ESTA’s team of 400 calltakers and dispatchers serves the State of Victoria, excluding rural ambulance and police.  

ESTA and its Intergraph CAD system most recently proved their mettle in being able to scale to meet dramatically increased demand during the terrifying fires that burned throughout Victoria in February when calls for CFA Regional soared from the average 125 calls per day to a high of 2,014.

About The Emergency Services Telecommunications Authority (ESTA)
The Emergency Services Telecommunications Authority (ESTA) is the gateway for Victoria’s emergency services.  ESTA is charged with the statutory accountability for managing Triple Zero calls and the associated operational communications for the dispatch of police, fire, ambulance and State Emergency Services in Victoria.

ESTA is a 24x7 operation with over 490 staff, providing services to some five million Victorians.   This includes triple zero services for:

In 2007/08, ESTA managed 1,861,047 calls, representing a call every 16 seconds and leading to 1,292,307 dispatches requiring emergency services agency response.  In addition, ESTA coordinated emergency radio, paging and mobile data communications for the emergency services.
