Intergraph® to Present on Improving Smart Grid Operations

Improving situation awareness and convergent OMS, DMS and MWFM systems control are the key to safe, efficient, high performance Smart Grids

HUNTSVILLE, Ala., April 6, 2009 -- The increased demands of monitoring and controlling a Smart Grid - and ultimately realizing increased safety, efficiency and performance - will be the presentation topic by Smart Grid solutions provider Intergraph® at the Smart Grid RoadShow industry conference in Denver, CO on April 6-7, 2009.

Tremendous amounts of information from disparate locations fed by ever-expanding networks of new smart devices and automation technologies are presenting Smart Grid operators with new challenges in the control center.

In his presentation, “The Operations Center - Often Neglected, Yet Crucial to Your Smart Grid Strategy,” Intergraph Director of Global Utilities and Communications Tony DiMarco will explore these challenges and new technologies that enable Smart Grid operators to control their entire distribution network from a consolidated graphical user environment, leading to vast improvements in productivity, operations efficiency, resource allocation, customer service, safety and security.

“Smart Grids inherently have many more sources of information for the operator to manage,” DiMarco said. “Geospatially enabled visualization technologies can now not only alleviate this information overload, but also enable utilities to gain increased safety, efficiency and performance from their Smart Grid.”

Intergraph, the world’s leading provider of engineering and geospatial software, offers integrated infrastructure and operations management solutions for Smart Grid electric utilities and for the gas, water, communications and pipeline industries. Through the convergence of outage, mobile workforce and distribution management, Intergraph enables utilities to immediately identify, locate and resolve network issues and emergency situations such as power outages, resulting in improved customer service and vast time and cost savings.

The Intergraph Smart Grid RoadShow presentation will take place from 2:00-2:45 p.m. on Tuesday, April 7 at the Denver Marriott City Center.
