HUNTSVILLE, Ala. , Oct. 28, 2009 - Intergraph®, a world leader in public safety and security solutions; ASIS International, the leading association for security professionals; and Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC), a FORTUNE 500® scientific, engineering, and technology applications company, will present a webinar at 1:00 p.m. EST, Wednesday, Nov. 4., to explore the industry’s emerging standards and latest advancements in security technology that promote interoperability and information sharing to protect lives and critical infrastructure.
The one-hour webcast, “Achieving Operational Interoperability through Emerging Standards,” will examine the importance of technology standards and policy in interoperability and information sharing, and the factors and agencies driving these initiatives. The discussion will survey data-sharing across agencies and systems, as well as address how information derived from data in a geospatial context can enhance security efforts. The program will also provide information on U.S. and E.U. programs related to standards and interoperability.
Mike Moran, ASIS special projects editor, will moderate the webinar, featuring commentary from Robert H. Scott, III, P.E, executive director, Security Solutions, Intergraph and James W. Morentz, Ph.D., vice president, Security Technology, SAIC.
Scott is responsible for establishing Intergraph’s direction and marketing programs that relate to integrated security, intelligence and public safety systems for transportation agencies, military installations and federal, state and local government. Morentz specializes in the development of advanced technologies to improve planning for and response to all types of natural, technological and terrorist events and has served as vice president and director of SAIC's Public Safety Integration Center.
“Information sharing and interoperability are no longer discretionary elements of a security program; they are essential requirements that can save lives and greatly lessen the magnitude of an incident’s aftermath,” said Scott. “This webinar will provide participants with the most current information available on standards, technologies and programs, so they can augment their own programs and in turn, advance their efforts to save lives and protect critical infrastructure.”
ASIS members are eligible to receive one Continuing Professional Education (CPE) credit for their participation. To register for the webinar, please visit: https://www.asisonline.org/store/program_detail.xml?id=109267434
