Intergraph®’s 2012 North American Transportation Summit Drives Smarter Decisions

Annual Conference Helps Transportation Agencies Exchange Ideas and Discover New Transportation Solutions and Enhancements

HUNTSVILLE, Ala., March 26, 2012 -- Intergraph®’s 2012 North American Transportation Summit, held on February 28-March 1, at the Westin Hotel in Huntsville, Alabama, welcomed 19 representatives from 12 different transportation agencies across North America to share ideas for future solution improvements, engage with peers from other North American transportation agencies and learn about new product updates and enhancements.

Intergraph’s anchor sessions included customer presentations that provided real-world business issues and solutions. Participants heard Arkansas State Highway Transportation Department discuss hotspot analysis for roadways; New Jersey Transit explain smarter bus planning by leveraging GeoMedia® Fusion and GeoMedia WebMap and Oklahoma Department of Transportation share a project update for automated routing and permitting for oversize/overweight vehicles. Summit attendees also learned about Intergraph’s multilevel linear referencing system (MLRS) and roadway data management with a presentation on Mississippi Department of Transportation’s use of Intergraph’s solution to build, maintain and analyze a multilevel, temporal linear referencing system for representing road networks.

Customers that attended the Summit also heard from Intergraph’s product development center on new products for transportation, online product training and demonstrations of latest products and enhancements. The sessions provided the future direction of Intergraph geospatial technologies, including new offerings for LiDAR, remote sensing, enterprise image management and more.

“It was a great event, and I came home motivated to start new projects,” says Mary Beth Pfrang, KanRoad and KGATE Project Manager, Geospatial Intelligence Section, Kansas Department of Transportation. “I enjoyed hearing from my peers about their projects and daily practices using geospatial applications. The new Intergraph products were thought-provoking and opened ideas for new business solutions.”

“The Transportation Summit offered a lot of information on current and future Intergraph products that I found to be very relevant to our work program at NJ TRANSIT,” continues Glenn Newman, Director, GIS-Transportation, NEW JERSEY TRANSIT. “As a result, we intend to initiate procurement of Intergraph’s GeoMedia Smart Client software and Leica hardware devices that will enable our field personnel to gather survey data more effectively. For nearly 20 years, NEW JERSEY TRANSIT has relied on Intergraph to provide robust, start-of-the-art technology to accomplish geospatial applications required of our work program. The Transportation Summit has reinforced this long-standing partnership, and we look forward to continuing work with Intergraph in the future.”
