Communications Infrastructure Management

The cost of deploying copper, fiber, and wireless networks has increased significantly. Competition has forced communications companies to look for every opportunity to contain cost and maximize the use of existing networks. Intergraph’s communications infrastructure management (CIM) provides you with solutions to reduce operational costs and offers access to network configuration. CIM also provides capacity information that supports the decision-making process related to network expansion and maximum use of the existing infrastructure.

Applications
- Infrastructure Maintenance
- Intergraph’s infrastructure maintenance application provides functionality to install, modify, abandon, or remove telecommunications facilities. The application produces work prints, bill of materials, and cost estimates to support the physical network changes. An output product of this application is the production of various geographically oriented maps of the telecommunications network and customer locations.
- Fiber Management - This Intergraph application lets you manage specific fiber assets and add new components such as optical splitters. Fiber management also introduces additional sophistication in terms of interfacing to circuit provisioning systems for mapping services and customers together on the network. The application supports fiber to the home, passive optical networks (PON), and Inside Plant (ISP) Termination Devices in a rack elevation graphic view.
- Enterprise Distribution - The digital network model is periodically published and distributed to the customer’s enterprise for decision support.
- Field Engineering - The field engineering application provides job information to workers where they need it, whether it’s for a repair, modification, or an extension. Field crews can use mobile tools to trace networks for locating faults, validate the physical network model to the digital network model, capture inspection/status information about field equipment, and capture redlines against the digital network model representing as-built changes.
- Image Management
- This Intergraph application uses imagery during network maintenance and field engineering operations to help understand the location and characteristics of the physical network. Customers with large volumes of imagery (high resolution, large coverage, multiple time snapshots) will use image management tools to improve productivity of searching and retrieving imagery.
- Landbase Management - Intergraph’s landbase management application supports the background information needed for infrastructure mapping and design. This application typically includes geospatial data such as edge of roadways, street center lines, and street names. It may also include company easements and right-of-ways as maintained by the company.
- Business Analysis and Reporting - Much of the value of automating operational support systems is the data automatically captured in the process. Intergraph’s business analysis and reporting application allows you to comprehensively analyze, mine, and report on data within the system. You can monitor and report on key operational metrics, improving your overall operating performance.
