Army Aviation and Missile Command (AMCOM), United States

Streamlining Life-cycle Management of Missile and Rocket Systems

Headquartered in Redstone Arsenal, Alabama, AMCOM’s key objective is to develop, acquire, and field Army aviation and missile systems to ensure the U.S. Army’s readiness and technological superiority. To achieve this, AMCOM collaborated with Intergraph to evaluate the life-cycle management of all missile and rocket systems. The assessment resulted in more than 105 changes to existing processes, including stream-lining the missile sustainment process; centralizing missile sustainment and oversight; standardizing effectiveness measures to evaluate production results; and applying information technology innovations and resource efficiencies. As a result, not only did AMCOM realize the benefits of this effort, but also the Joint Munitions Command, diverse Munitions Centers, and two Army depots.
