Intergraph Helps the German Federal Police Increase Homeland Security

The German Federal Police are responsible for providing public safety at airports, railways, and federal borderlines, as well as on the high seas. This includes patrolling and protecting 7,530 railway stations with more than 1.7 billion passengers; securing flight passengers and airport grounds; and providing police surveillance for borders on land, water, and from the air within a radius of 30 km. Because of their many responsibilities and the vast amount of land they needed to protect, the German Federal Police sought a modernized dispatch management and communication system that would help them address heightened homeland security needs.

The German Federal Police chose Intergraph to implement command and control systems at several locations throughout the country. These systems provided police personnel with:

  • Fast and coordinated dispatching of resources
  • Improvement in quality of work
  • Better service for police action leaders
  • Fewer stress situations for dispatching staff through automation
  • Permanent and actual information on all police missions
  • Fast data-export to other security organizations
  • Simple and ergonomic use of all functionalities from a single workstation

As a result of Intergraph’s modernized law enforcement technologies, the German Federal Police can now optimize coordination of countrywide activities and shorten their response times. The system immediately alerts additional police staff when help is needed and provides mobile units with real-time information. Additionally, digital mapping availability enables more effective and coordinated manhunts.
