Landmine Application Provides Powerful Resource for Canadian Military

The Department of National Defence and Canadian Forces (DND/CF) wanted to develop an
effective landmine identification and location application that would provide
combat engineers with the ability to record and accurately indicate positions of
landmines, minefields, and obstacles requiring disposal or removal. Intergraph
and its partner GeoPATROL worked together to provide the
solution.
IntelliWhere OnDemand enables DND/CF to complete landmine-clearing activities faster and more safely because landmines, minefields, and obstacle-related information can be downloaded to personal digital assistants (PDAs) for dissemination to all appropriate personnel.
The bottom line is simple. The use of this location-enabled, real-time mobile solution makes it possible for the military to maximize organizational access to geospatial data and streamline the time-consuming field procedures required to deal with obstacles and safely identify, map, remove, and dispose of landmines. The rapid dissemination of information ensures that all personnel operating in the field can be made aware of hazardous areas and take measures to stay clear of them.
