Only 35 minutes after a tornado passed near Orlando in 2003, Progress Energy Florida had successfully
restored service to almost 1,900 of the 2,000 residents who had lost power. This
feat was possible because the utility could rely on integrated applications for
geographic information system-based facility mapping, automated outage
management, mobile workforce management, and automatic vehicle location
technologies – all implemented by Intergraph.
A member of Intergraph’s prestigious 100 Percent Club, Progress Energy Florida sees the benefits of being fully converted to an entirely digital environment for both the monitoring and mapping of its infrastructure and dispatching of its field crews. The utility notes that 100 percent digital conversion has significantly contributed to its ability to respond quickly to outage events.
