Companies such as E.ON Ruhrgas AG are
constantly seeking ways to make their
processes and workflows more efficient
and effective. Therefore, E.ON Ruhrgas AG (formerly Rhurgas AG)
decided to optimize the technical
administration of its pipeline system
and selected Intergraph’s G/Pipeline
solution to assist in pipeline operation
and maintenance functions.
Intergraph’s G/Technology supports a geospatial resource management (GRM) environment, which seamlessly integrates workflows among disparate systems and various departments. Implementing G/Pipeline, Intergraph’s industry-specific solution, and the appropriate interfaces enables E.ON Ruhrgas AG to optimize resource allocation at all levels.
GRM supports the geo-based information needs of the entire E.ON Ruhrgas AG organization through commercial-off-the-shelf (COTS) solutions that eliminate the need for customization when adding new functionalities. This approach results in faster upgrades and lower maintenance costs throughout a project life cycle. Furthermore, Intergraph’s GRM COTS applications are capable of supporting large databases and scaling up to support a large number of users distributed throughout the organization. The ability to store all network information within one open database results in object-oriented data and highly efficient workflows for data capture, sharing, and use.
G/Pipeline integrates with the E.ON Ruhrgas AG Information System TANNIS to manage telecommunications data and ALK-EDBS to manage cadastral data. According to E.ON Ruhrgas AG project managers, this integration is of crucial importance because they want to eliminate any redundant data in the modules (e.g. the pipeline operation, telecommunications, cathodic protection, or landbase modules).
G/Pipeline, configured to meet E.ON Ruhrgas AG requirements, enables more than 200 field staff
to access the latest data. Field crews can also send redline information back to the central office.
The ability to access pipeline asset and operational data from many locations and in various conditions
has improved the quality of the data, and static procedures are now information flows that
help to manage the E.ON Ruhrgas AG transmission network with optimum efficiency.
E.ON Ruhrgas AG chose Intergraph’s solution because it provides an international, industry-standard
solution that can be enhanced. Additionally, it is a high-performance modular system based
on PC standards and a first-rate engineering methodology.
E.ON Ruhrgas AG is Germany’s leading gas transmission company and one of the largest in Europe. E.ON Ruhrgas AG and its affiliates offer a wide range of services and products for the transportation and consumption of gas.
