Aurora Energy is a Tasmanian Government owned electricity distribution and retail company. Aurora also is one of two companies licensed to retail gas in Tasmania and is the only dual-fuel retailer in the State. Aurora has operated in mainland Tasmania since 1 July 1998 and provides a contract service to the Bass Strait islands on behalf of the Hydro-Electric Corporation, trading as Hydro Tasmania. Formed under the Electricity Companies Act and incorporated under the Corporations Law, Aurora has two shareholders - the Minister for Infrastructure, Energy and Resources, and the Treasurer.
Aurora Energy is leveraging Intergraph technologies to upgrade its geospatial asset and outage management systems. The Intergraph Outage Management System (OMS) implemented by Aurora Energy will enhance the organization’s ability to restore power to its customers in times of emergency. The InService system will also provide links for critical workflow processes particularly during storms and other major events such as bushfires.
