Intergraph® Named in 3rd Annual India CIO 100 Awards

Engineering and Geospatial software’s company recognized for IT excellence

HOOFDORP, NL, Oct. 02, 2008 – IDG India’s CIO magazine has named Intergraph® Consulting Private Ltd., a leading engineering and geospatial software development facility for Intergraph Corp., as a recipient of its prestigious 2008 CIO 100 Award.

The annual award program recognizes organizations that exemplify the highest level of operational and strategic excellence in information technology (IT). This year's award theme, "The Bold 100," recognized those executives and organizations who embrace great risk for the sake of great reward. These organizations are playing not just to survive, but to win.

From developing geospatial software used by India’s Ministry of Defense to protect the nation to next generation 3D plant and marine design software used by process, power, ship and offshore companies globally, Intergraph Consulting plays a key role in developing Intergraph’s market-leading enterprise engineering and geospatial software applications.

“Intergraph was undergoing a business transformation globally. Indian operations were growing at a rate of 20 percent and service offerings were moving up the value chain. As a preferred development center of Intergraph Corp., the strategic mission of Indian operations was to deliver Q3C – Quality, Capability, Capacity and Continuity,” said Aswani Kumar Akella, Director, Information Technology and Quality, Intergraph India.

“Since inception in 1987, IT at Intergraph India functioned as a ‘Systems Management Group’ with primary focus on desktop support. Networking operated as a separate function. Both the groups operated predominantly in a reactionary mode. IT infrastructure was ageing and technologies were becoming obsolete. IT assets were scattered resulting in higher risk and maintenance costs. This combined with increasing headcount, increasing complexity of product development environments and customer support, were all set to become a bottleneck for growth. This mode of operation was not a right fit to deliver business value and steer us toward organizational mission.  There was a need for change - in the way users perceived IT, the way infrastructure was setup, the way IT processes were functioning and the way technology was deployed.”

At the end of the project, the IT Infrastructure of Intergraph in India was successfully optimized able to meet current and future business needs. Intergraph India’s IT infrastructure also has been integrated into the Intergraph global network and customers’ satisfaction and productivity have increased.

"The Bold 100 honorees stand out because they have dared to take on risk for the chance of reward in challenging business climates," said Vijay Ramachandran, editor-in-chief, IDG India. "The CIOs leading these projects are smart, inventive and determined — I offer them my best wishes."
