PhD Researcher, Surrey Space Centre
Alan is currently researching for a PhD at Surrey Space Centre, University of Surrey. The title of his research is ‘Sensing and Autonomous Navigation for High Precision Planetary Landers’.
He is an experienced Land Surveyor having worked for many years on large (sometimes national) mapping projects worldwide. He also worked for fifteen years for Intergraph UK on sales to Government and Utilities with many of his old accounts being household names in these sectors. He was also responsible for setting up TeraMedia Ltd which competed for, and won, a large 7 year contract from Government to supply all digital information required for the transaction of property. This service, now rolled out nationally, has become TM Property Services and provides the various on-line data required by a Home Information Pack.
He has also worked as a consultant to Autodesk and for two years was Projects Director for GetMapping plc where he was involved in the original creation of the national coverage of orthorectified imagery.
Alan is both a Fellow of the RICS and InstCES and has served on Council and various AGI committees for many years.
