What will the course cover?

The SmartPlant Foundation (SPF) Modelling and Schema Editor course is the second in the Process, Plant and Marine series of classes designed to introduce an administrator and a data modeller to the SPF and The Engineering Framework (TEF) data dictionary and structure. This course, which is a pre-requisite for the TEF Adapter Authoring class, provides a good introduction and understanding of meta-schema and schema concepts, an overview of TEF Schema definition, and a working knowledge of the Schema Editor. SPF Modelling and Schema Editor will also provide an understanding of mapping concepts and how to use the Schema Editor to configure mapping between the Engineering Framework Schema and the authoring tool schemas. Also included is the necessary steps to model from one authoring tool to a different authoring tool in preparation for the TEF publish and retrieve functionality. The ability to load the modified schema into the SPF administration database is also covered. The class is presented as a combination of lecture sessions followed by hands-on activity periods.

What are the prerequisites for attending this course?

  • Introduction to SmartPlant Foundation/The Engineering Framework and Administration I - TTEF2005 (Optional for programmers/data modellers, required for system administrators)
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Windows NT 2000, XP or Windows Server 2003
  • Knowledge of database administration (i.e. Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server)
