Data and application integration across other engineering disciplines is a crucial aspect of Smart 3D’s design environment. Integrated via SmartPlant Foundation, P&ID-driven piping design and comparison within Smart 3D is now possible. Intelligent schematic data produced initially in SmartPlant P&ID can be directly used in the Smart 3D piping task to ensure consistency between the schematics and physical offshore designs. Intelligent electrical data created using SmartPlant Electrical can be used to drive intelligent, automatic cable routing in Smart 3D. For instrumentation, Smart 3D integrates with inline instrument data, often based on vendor-specific data, created originally using SmartPlant Instrumentation to generate inline instruments. Automatic, rule-based pipe routing integrating with external line list data or SmartPlant P&IDs dramatically reduces the time needed to define a new layout.
