HUNTSVILLE, Ala., December 13, 2006 – Intergraph Corporation today announced that the Palm Beach County (Fla.) Sheriff’s Office (PBSO), has selected Intergraph as the core technology provider in the organization’s initiative to modernize its law enforcement information systems. In serving Florida’s largest (land-wise) and third most populous county, the PBSO faces a broad set of challenges and demands. With Intergraph’s suite of unified emergency response, records management, and jail management solutions, the PBSO will become an industry-leading user of public safety technology.
The PBSO will use Intergraph solutions to improve the dispatching of emergency services, deliver critical information into the hands of first responders, and more effectively investigate and solve crimes. Also, the PBSO and Intergraph will work together collaboratively to create an environment where information can be made available to other public safety organizations throughout the County and the region. Intergraph’s interoperability solutions will enable agencies to better communicate and share critical data, so they can more effectively respond to cross jurisdictional incidents and prevent and solve crime on a regional level.
When completed, this initiative will also provide the PBSO’s field personnel with modern, mobile computing technology. Through Intergraph’s mobile dispatching and field reporting software, these mobile computing platforms will allow field personnel to more efficiently respond to emergency events, access crime and other information, and file reports, thereby increasing the presence, visibility and effectiveness of these PBSO employees.
Handling over one million calls per year, dispatchers in the new state-of-the art communications center will take advantage of Intergraph’s map-based computer aided dispatch system, along with Global Positioning System technology, to pinpoint emergency response units in real-time, eliminating critical seconds from emergency response times, and increasing officer and citizen safety.
Intergraph technology will also be used to modernize the County’s jail facilities, comprised of three sites with a total bed capacity exceeding 3,300. By leveraging Intergraph’s jail management technology, the PBSO will incorporate the use of advanced RFID technology and spatial visualization for inmate tracking and officer safety.
According to Sheriff Ric L. Bradshaw, "The implementation of Intergraph’s Law Enforcement Information Systems will dramatically increase the efficiency and effectiveness of PBSO personnel to provide services to the citizens of Palm Beach County. This in turn will enhance our ability to reduce criminal activity throughout the region and ensure PBSO will soon be on the cutting edge of technological advances. The men and women of PBSO have been looking forward to this day, signaling a continuing modernization of the agency. Intergraph will give us the ability to quickly exchange information within our agency and to our partners in the region."
“As the need for security and intelligence analysis increases worldwide, Intergraph’s public safety solutions become even more relevant, providing seamless mutual aid capabilities between Palm Beach Sheriff and Fire departments for unified public safety response,” said Ben Eazzetta, president, Intergraph Security, Government & Infrastructure. “By selecting Intergraph technologies, Palm Beach County demonstrates the importance of interoperability and continuous information exchange, which is essential to preventing and responding to critical incidents. We look forward to partnering with the Sheriff’s Office in providing unparalleled technology for modernizing law enforcement in Palm Beach County.”
