9-1-1 Toolkit

911 Industry Alliance APCO E911 Institute NAED NANSA NENA

Congress has declared April National 9-1-1 Education Month to underscore the importance of 9-1-1 education and to ensure safety and security within our communities.

Educating those who live and work in our communities about how to most effectively use 9-1-1 can reduce non-emergency calls, save precious time taking calls and increase community awareness and appreciation for first responders.

In support of National 9-1-1 Education Month, Intergraph (in partnership with the 9-1-1 Industry Alliance, APCO, E9-1-1 Institute, NAED, NASNA, and NENA) has prepared a toolkit to assist in educating local communities on how to most effectively use 9-1-1. The kit contains:

  • A citizens´ guide for requesting emergency services
  • A design template for a refrigerator magnet with quick reference tips for calling
9-1-1 (this has been created to fit on a standard, popular magnet size).

Both of these items can be customized with a community/agency seal, mass-produced and distributed to your local community to generate awareness and promote education of 9-1-1 usage and your organization.

You may post these free materials on your web site and distribute them as you wish. Your local specialty item provider can produce the 9-1-1 magnets from the design template.

While Intergraph recognizes that your community has its own unique needs and nuances, we sincerely hope you find these tools to be of value. The suggested distribution channels you may wish to consider are:

  • Your community´s website
  • Partner with a local newspaper, television or radio station to promote distribution through a supermarket chain
  • Local libraries
  • Schools and day care centers
  • Senior citizen centers
  • Team with a local hospital to distribute at health fairs
  • Community festivals and concerts
  • Baseball, soccer, tennis and other community team sports leagues
